The Penultimate Week: A Moment to Reflect

The penultimate week of term always brings a mix of energy and reflection. Lessons are still purposeful, but there is also a sense of looking back, recognising just how far our students have come.

This year, we have seen strong academic success across the school. Students have worked hard, and the outcomes reflect that effort. But just as important have been the achievements beyond the classroom in music, sport, language, technology, and the arts. Our curriculum is broad for a reason, and it has been clear this year that our students are thriving in many ways.

The recent end-of-year production captured that perfectly. Seeing so many students perform with confidence and creativity was a powerful reminder of what can happen when children are given the chance to express themselves. Behind each performance was a story of hard work, resilience and the quiet determination to keep improving, supported by staff who believe in every child’s potential.

The Qur’an Reading Competition and the Cheerleading Competition were equally remarkable, each highlighting different strengths within our student body. The choir performance, the summer show and the many end-of-year showcases across the school were not just about the final moment on stage. They reflected a journey of learning, growth and teamwork. These moments have shown just how much our students can achieve when they are encouraged to aim high and receive support along the way.

Our CCA programme continues to enrich school life, from sports teams and creative clubs to the Formula 1 CCA. It has been fantastic to see the level of enthusiasm and commitment across the board. These activities develop skills that complement academic learning, including teamwork, confidence, problem-solving and self-belief.

We still have more to look forward to. Primary BISAD’s Got Talent will take place in the final week and promises to be a celebration of individuality, courage and joy. It is a fitting way to conclude a year marked by growth and achievement in numerous forms.

This is what we mean when we talk about the whole child. Not just academic outcomes but opportunities to explore, create, lead and belong. Our students should feel proud of what they have achieved, and we are proud of them.
