Applications Open for 2025-2026
The English as an Additional Language (EAL) department works with students whose first language is not English and who therefore need direct support with English.
Our aim is to ensure that all students are able to access the classroom curriculum and thrive within the BIS school community.
In Primary, we support students from F3 to Year 6 in their mainstream classes as well as withdrawing them to give targeted support for their language needs. We also team teach with class teachers so that all children benefit from the language input.
Our wonderful EAL team will be focusing on enriching our students’ vocabulary, grammar knowledge and English language skills (speaking, listening, reading and writing) through plenty of communicative activities, games and learning. Together, we look forward to supporting and enhancing the language development for all children across the school, both inside and outside of the classroom.
There will be EAL Information Coffee mornings on Thursday 17th October at Early Years & Infants Campus; and on Friday 18th October at Junior Campus. More details will be confirmed by email shortly.
Keep an eye out for our SeeSaw posts about EAL students and their learning. Visit our blog for lots of advice and activities for parents and children: http://bishcmceal.blogspot.com/.
If you have any questions about the EAL programme, come and talk to us!

At BIS HCMC, our story is one of connection, continuity, and care — a place where learning begins with curiosity and ends with confident, compassionate graduates ready to shape the world. Earlier this year, we witnessed a moving reminder of this journey, as eighteen members of our Year 13 Class of 2025 returned to the place where it all began: Early Years Foundation Stages.
At BIS HCMC, our Primary Expeditions are more than just school trips—they are life-changing expeditions that shape our students into confident, independent individuals. Earlier this month, our Year 4, 5, and 6 students embarked on thrilling journeys to Long Hai, Can Gio, and Cat Tien.
