Meet the 2019 Primary EAL Team The English as an Additional Language (EAL) department works with students whose first language is not English and who therefore need direct support with English.

The English as an Additional Language (EAL) department works with students whose first language is not English and who therefore need direct support with English.

Our aim is to ensure that all students are able to access the classroom curriculum and thrive within the BIS school community.

In Primary, we support students from F3 to Year 6 in their mainstream classes as well as withdrawing them to give targeted support for their language needs. We also team teach with class teachers so that all children benefit from the language input.

Our wonderful EAL team will be focusing on enriching our students’ vocabulary, grammar knowledge and English language skills (speaking, listening, reading and writing) through plenty of communicative activities, games and learning. Together, we look forward to supporting and enhancing the language development for all children across the school, both inside and outside of the classroom.

Information Coffee Mornings

There will be EAL Information Coffee mornings on Thursday 17^th October at Early Years & Infants Campus; and on Friday 18^th October at Junior Campus. More details will be confirmed by email shortly.

Competing against over 4,700 teams from more than 50 countries, the BIS team won first place in both of the categories they entered – Best Power Pitch and the Glinsky Expo Award – an unprecedented achievement in the challenge's history.

BIS HCMC students once again secure places at the top three universities in Canada

We are thrilled with the success of our Class of 2025 graduates, with eleven students receiving multiple offers to the top three Canadian universities! Congratulations to all of you! This year, we are proud to see no other than nine students receive offers from the University of Toronto with many of these students receiving offers also for McGill University and The University of British Columbia. These prestigious institutions are ranked as the top three universities in Canada and in the top 40 universities globally!
