Northbridge Unveils Campus Upgrades, Adventure Playground

Northbridge International School Cambodia (NISC) has announced a series of exciting upgrades to its campus facilities, led by a new Robinson Crusoe-themed playground designed to spark imaginative play for Primary students. These improvements reflect the school’s continued investment in creating the best possible environment for learning, wellbeing, and community connection.

The playground, a nature-inspired space set among the trees, invites students to climb, explore, and imagine — creating a space that blends adventure with connection to the natural environment. It is expected to open in October 2025 and will be a standout feature for NISC, as well as a unique addition to the Phnom Penh international school landscape.

“We wanted to create an area that would encourage adventure and imagination, a space where children can explore, play, and connect with the spirit of the story,” said Principal Frances Morton. “It will be a place where they can engage in imaginative play, develop their physical skills, and build social connections with their peers.”

In addition to the playground, the school is also undertaking improvements to its classrooms, sports hall, and IB Centre. These are key spaces that support how students learn, collaborate, and grow throughout their time at Northbridge.

“We chose to invest in these projects as a direct response to the needs of our families and the evolving ways our students learn,” Frances added.

The refreshed classrooms will create more collaborative, flexible learning environments across year levels. The IB Centre will be transformed into a mature, university-style space designed to foster independence and focus, bridging the gap between school and higher education while reinforcing the leadership role of NISC’s senior students. Meanwhile, the sports hall, used by students throughout the week and by families on weekends, will be upgraded to better support physical wellbeing and school spirit.

“Whether it’s imaginative outdoor play or refreshed learning spaces, these improvements are all about creating the best possible environment for our community,” said Frances.

These upgrades build on the school’s recent investments, including the opening of a 400-seat auditorium in late 2024. The new auditorium now anchors the school’s performing arts programme and community events.

Situated on a 20-acre campus in the heart of Phnom Penh, NISC provides students with a green, expansive learning environment that is rare in the city. The school features shaded outdoor spaces, specialist science and design facilities, and world-class sport and performing arts amenities.

Northbridge is part of the Nord Anglia Education family of schools, offering a premium, globally connected learning experience that inspires students to achieve more than they ever thought possible.
