Transitions and Class Allocations
Dear Parents,
This week and next we are focusing on our transition programmes and class allocation processes for children across the campus.
Whether transition happens between campuses i.e. Sai Kung to Lam Tin or movement within the school to the next year group, we take great care to ensure children and families are supported at this critically important time. We offer additional drop-ins for families joining Lam Tin the first time and take time to get to know the children. On this note, a huge thanks to our Heads of Year 1 and 2, Ms. Ben-Haim and Mr. Gill for leading these events across the school.
When allocating classes for the next year, Teachers, Heads of Year and the Primary Leadership Team are all involved to ensure the best possible outcomes for our children. We take into consideration a variety of factors to ensure a balanced and supportive classroom environment that we feel would be conducive for effective learning. We can imagine it has a giant Rubik’s cube with moving parts including friendship groups, social and emotional needs, teaching experiences, dynamics of gender balance and personality mix not to mention logistical and practical factors for classroom locations.
As with all decisions that are made in school, we allocate classes and teachers with the children’s best interests at the heart of our process. On this note, I would like to thank you, ahead of time, for your patience and understanding once your child has their allocated class and teachers. We understand that while you may have a preferred teacher in mind, we are proud of the hard work and dedication of all Teachers and TLAs in school. Therefore, by supporting your child’s class allocations, we acknowledge that each, and every class, can thrive.
